XLR8 AI is a San Francisco company, founded in 2025, that helps brands get named and cited when buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot and Google AI Mode for recommendations. It sits between two categories: it has its own solution for visibility tracking, citation analysis and content, but every engagement also comes with dedicated GEO strategists who plan and execute the work. The company calls itself an "AI growth partner" and reports working with 40+ brands, including iVisa, Hugo, Cline, Integrate.io, DreamFactory and Juicebox.
Our verdict: XLR8 AI is a strong pick for mid-market, enterprise and agency teams that want AI search to become a measurable pipeline channel and don't have in-house GEO capacity to act on a dashboard. Teams that only want low-cost monitoring, or need published pricing before talking to sales, should look elsewhere.
What it does well
XLR8 AI's toolkits share one loop: find the gaps in how AI engines describe your brand, ship fixes, then re-run the same prompts to measure whether the fix worked. The tools below are what that loop runs on, and the strategist team decides where to point them.
Execution, not just reporting. Most AI visibility tools show where you stand and leave the fixing to you, while traditional agencies tend to deliver an audit and stop short of shipping pages or outreach. XLR8 AI runs engagements in stages. An AI Visibility Audit maps how models see the brand today. A strategist then builds a research-backed Growth Blueprint, and the team executes across on-page content, third-party citations, Reddit, LinkedIn, Medium and YouTube. Weekly reviews look at the latest experiment data and set the next sprint, so the plan changes when a category stalls rather than running on a fixed content calendar.
Visibility experiments: Visibility experiments run a set of prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot and Google AI Mode, and record how often your brand is named, which competitors are named instead and which pages the engines pull from. Prompts are grouped by the stage of the buying journey they represent:
- Discovery visibility: prompts where buyers look for options in your category, such as "best email capture tools for Shopify."
- Informational visibility: prompts where buyers are still learning about the problem, before they have a shortlist.
- Competitor alternatives: prompts such as "alternatives to [competitor]," where buyers are actively comparing vendors.
In the published case studies these experiments run weekly. Provision's program, for example, tested 330 prompts every week across six LLMs and seven categories against 11 named competitors, and new frontier models are added to experiments as they reach AI search.
Sentiment experiments: Being named is only half the picture, so sentiment experiments look at what engines say once they mention you. Brand sentiment captures the tone and specific claims engines use to describe the brand, including the pros and cons they repeat. Competitor comparison runs head-to-head prompts for your brand against each competitor, which shows where a model favors a rival and which claims it uses to justify that.
Prompt research: Prompt research builds the query sets that every experiment runs on. Sets can be organized by topic, funnel stage or client. Keyword ideas and search volume from Google Keyword Planner seed the prompts with real demand data, citation-tag enrichment labels each prompt with the source types AI engines cite for it, and research documents can be attached to a query set for context.
Citation Analysis: Citation analytics show which URLs engines cite and why that matters for your strategy. Cited pages are classified by type, such as listicles, pricing pages, docs, forums and video, so you can see whether a category is won through third-party lists, community threads or your own product pages. Source-gap views show where competitors are cited and you are not, which becomes the target list for content and outreach. Trend views track how visibility and citations move after each fix ships.
Content generation and optimization: The content toolkit covers drafting and scoring:
- Content generation drafts articles, comparison pages and landing pages from a brief, in the brand's voice.
- Content Alignment measures how closely a piece matches the query you want AI search to answer.
- Content Optimization scores a draft against the pages AI engines already cite for that query, then revises it to close the gap.
- Content Humanizer previews and applies edits that remove robotic phrasing before anything is published.
Brand guidelines: Each brand gets a stored profile with its voice, terminology, banned words and positioning. Brand learnings capture rules from your edits and feedback and apply them to future drafts, and feedback import pulls in existing edits and reviews so the system starts from your real preferences rather than a blank slate. For agencies, this keeps output consistent across many client workspaces.
Outreach Planner: Third-party pages such as listicles and comparison posts drive a large share of AI citations, and the Outreach Planner is built to get you onto them. It builds a prospect list from the domains cited for your prompts, finds the right contact at each one, and drafts personalized emails that reference the specific page and explain why your brand belongs on it. Emails go out from your own mailbox, and all reply threads are managed in one inbox.
Reddit Intelligence: Reddit listening monitors threads that mention your category, brand or competitors. A cited-posts finder surfaces the Reddit posts AI engines already cite for your prompts, which are the threads where a reply has the most influence on AI answers. Comment generation drafts helpful, on-brand replies for a person to review and post, so nothing goes out automatically.
Video Generator for Youtube: YouTube is a source AI engines cite often, and XLR8 AI produces two formats for it: script-to-video explainers on the brand's topics, and presenter-style avatar videos made from a script in the brand's style. Tsenta's engagement, for example, turned top-performing blog posts into 5 to 10 minute videos aimed at high-intent queries.
Indexing tool: Engines that rely on a search index cannot cite a page they have not crawled. The Indexing tool submits new and updated pages to Google and Bing as soon as they ship and shows each page's status as Queued, Submitted or Indexed, which shortens the gap between publishing a fix and seeing it in AI answers.
MCP server: The MCP server connects Claude, Cursor and other MCP-compatible assistants to an XLR8 AI workspace, so teams can run tasks from inside a chat. Exposed tools include brand guidelines, prompt research, visibility experiments, citation analytics, content generation with a built-in compliance check, Reddit listening, citation outreach and video generation. In the example on XLR8 AI's features page, a user runs a visibility experiment for "best AEO platform" across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, ranks the cited sources, and drafts outreach to the sources that don't yet mention the brand, all in one conversation.
Who should use it
XLR8 AI is built for teams that want AI search to produce a business outcome and are willing to commit to a multi-week program to get there. It fits best for:
- Mid-market and enterprise marketing teams that need pipeline, not a score. The engagement model is tied to outcomes such as demos, sign-ups and installs. Provision reported nearly tripling inbound demos from AI engines, and Alia reported AI-search installs growing 5x.
- Teams without in-house GEO expertise. If no one on your team has time to turn a visibility dashboard into content, outreach and technical fixes, the dedicated strategist team plans and ships that work and reviews results weekly.
- Agencies and agency networks. The Agencies plan adds centralized client and workspace management, per-client brand guidelines, reporting dashboards for every client and data exports, so one team can run AI search programs for many brands.
- Challengers in categories led by large incumbents. Several case studies involve smaller brands competing against much bigger names, such as Provision against Procore and Autodesk, and Lion Pose against La Roche-Posay and Sephora. Category-by-category targeting suits brands that can't outspend leaders across the board.
- B2B SaaS, developer tools, e-commerce and services brands whose buyers research in AI assistants. Published results span construction software, cybersecurity, fundraising software, Shopify apps, job-search tools, skincare and API tooling.
- E-commerce brands that want to appear in AI shopping results. Lion Pose's engagement covered ChatGPT's product carousel, Google Merchant Center feeds, product schema and retailer listings, not just blog content.
- Brands where Reddit and third-party listicles shape the category. If AI answers in your space lean on community threads and "best X tools" lists, Reddit Intelligence and the Outreach Planner target exactly those sources.
- Established brands with gaps in competitive queries. Bitsight already had strong overall visibility but was cited less often in "alternatives to" queries. Separate experiments for competitor alternatives make that kind of gap visible and measurable.
In short, XLR8 AI fits buyers who want one vendor for measurement and execution.
Case studies
XLR8 AI publishes detailed case studies on its case studies page. The figures below are as reported by XLR8 AI and its customers and have not been independently audited. Visibility is measured with XLR8 AI's own experiments, so it reflects the share of tracked prompts in which the brand appears.
Provision: beating Procore and Autodesk in AI search
The company: Provision is a seed-stage startup building AI agents that help general contractors and preconstruction teams review drawings, specs and subcontractor bids for scope gaps.
The challenge: When buyers asked LLMs for construction scope-review software, answers named Procore and Autodesk. Provision's overall AI visibility was 25.97% at baseline in June 2026.
What XLR8 AI did: Benchmarked Provision against competitors prompt by prompt in each category, published category-mapped guides, listicles and buyer's guides, built "vs" and "alternatives" pages against Procore, Autodesk and Document Crunch, secured coverage in ENR and Techli, added YouTube videos, built missing solution pages, and ran 330-prompt experiments weekly. In September the team rebuilt the plan for the one category that wasn't compounding.
Results:
- Overall AI visibility rose from 25.97% to a peak of 58.82%, a 2.3x increase in 11 weeks.
- Provision led the Construction AI Agents category at 94.4%, ahead of Procore (81.5%) and Autodesk (57.4%).
- Citations of provision.com grew from 144 to 553, a 3.8x increase.
- Provision's founder reported that inbound demos from AI engines nearly tripled.
Tsenta: 12x AI visibility in under three months
The company: Tsenta is a Y Combinator-backed AI job application platform in a crowded category that includes Simplify, LazyApply and JobRight.
The challenge: Earlier agency work had produced generic blog posts with no query strategy. In June 2026 Tsenta had 2.1% overall AI visibility, 0% on Claude and no presence in ChatGPT answers for its core query.
What XLR8 AI did: Mapped ICP queries and the domains LLMs cite, then published 50+ query-mapped blog posts, 20+ competitor comparison pages and 27 ATS integration landing pages. The team also optimized metadata on 36+ pages, fixed sitemap, robots.txt, llms.txt and schema issues, and added YouTube videos and Reddit comments.
Results:
- Overall AI visibility rose from 2.1% to a peak of 25.3% by early September 2026, a 12x increase.
- Citations grew from 6 to 117, nearly 20x.
- Visibility on Claude Sonnet 5 went from 0% to 45.6%, and the Auto-Apply Tools category went from 3.0% to 47.7%.
- Google rankings for target keywords moved from pages 4 to 6 up to pages 1 to 3.
Metal: 9x AI visibility in an 8-week pilot
The company: Metal is a fundraising platform for startup founders, backed by Y Combinator and a16z.
The challenge: AI search had been sending Metal 15 to 20 organic sign-ups a month, then that traffic dried up. At the start, overall AI visibility was 3.3% and its guides section had zero citations.
What XLR8 AI did: Built a /guides content hub from scratch, including comparisons against Crunchbase, OpenVC, Signal by NFX and PitchBook, created product landing pages, optimized partner pages with Techstars and YC, ran a founder-perspective Medium strategy, and handled indexing and structured data.
Results:
- Overall AI visibility rose from 3.3% to 30.68% over the 8-week pilot, a 9x increase.
- Visibility jumped from 3.8% to 29.0% in a single week after the first guides went live.
- Guides went from 0 to 213 citations across LLMs.
- Visibility in the Investor Sourcing category rose from 3% to 44.3%.
Alia: 5x AI search installs in 10 weeks
The company: Alia is an AI-powered popup app for Shopify that serves more than 2,500 brands.
The challenge: When Shopify merchants asked AI assistants for email capture or popup tools, Alia didn't appear. Its visibility for Email and SMS Capture Tools on GPT Fast was 0%.
What XLR8 AI did: Set up llms.txt, robots.txt, sitemaps and indexing, mapped high-intent queries, produced 13 listicles and 4 long-form guides, optimized Alia's Shopify app listing and integration pages, and ran Reddit campaigns in the communities LLMs retrieve.
Results:
- AI-search installs grew 5x, from about 4 a month to about 20 a month.
- Overall AI visibility rose from 27.6% to 68.85% across major LLMs in 10 weeks.
- aliapopups.com became the #1 cited domain for Shopify popup queries, with 476 citations.
- Visibility for Email and SMS Capture Tools on GPT Fast went from 0% to 71.4%.
Bitsight: tripling citations in competitor-alternative queries
The company: Bitsight is a cyber risk intelligence company with more than 3,500 customers, including 38% of the Fortune 500.
The challenge: Bitsight already had strong overall AI visibility but was cited less consistently in competitor comparison and "alternatives" queries, where security buyers choose between vendors.
What XLR8 AI did: Produced comparison guides and alternatives listicles for CTI and TPRM competitors, built a library of CTI, TPRM and EASM articles, optimized Platform and Solution pages, and ran separate experiments for competitor-alternative and core-product queries with weekly or biweekly optimization cycles.
Results:
- Citations in the CTI competitor-alternatives experiment grew from 725 to 2,115 in four weeks, roughly tripling.
- Visibility in that experiment rose from 40.1% to 48.7%.
- Core product discovery citations grew 64%, and visibility stayed above 70% for six straight runs, peaking at 74.3%.
Lion Pose: ranking above La Roche-Posay in ChatGPT's product carousel
The company: Lion Pose is a dermatologist-developed clinical skincare brand that sells through its own site, Sephora, Amazon and TikTok Shop.
The challenge: AI answers for queries such as "best night serum for melasma" were dominated by La Roche-Posay, CeraVe and Dermalogica, and Lion Pose's product data wasn't reaching AI shopping results.
What XLR8 AI did: Got Lion Pose's product data into ChatGPT's product carousel, fixed Google Merchant Center feeds and policies, restructured product pages for LLM retrieval, published content on third-party and owned sites, rewrote Sephora and Amazon listings, posted 66 Reddit comments in skincare subreddits, and added Product and merchant listing schema.
Results:
- Lion Pose appeared in ChatGPT's product carousel for "best night serums for melasma," above La Roche-Posay and Sephora.
- It became the #3 most-cited skincare brand in its domain across major LLMs.
- Google Search sales grew 3.75x year over year.
